Crime-On-Line develops a new Community Awareness initiative
Gisli Njalsson (COL news) | Tuesday, July 27, 2004
COL has been hard at work recently to develop a new Community Awareness Initiative as an on going service to the community as a whole. From our dynamic end-user communication capabilities currently available via the COL registration and theft preventative system, COL has taken the next logical step.

The initiative in conjunction with the authorities, police, councils and community organizations will increase the populaces capabilities to self-police and take an active part in increasing awareness in their local area. This will allow for a variety of social improvements I.e. Local/Regional/National Alerts from the Police, Government, Councils and the Emergency Services.

The public will be able to receive information directly to e-mail/SMS text messaging and MMS messaging along with ANPR enabled CCTV vehicle tracking. Imagine a whole town receiving a text description along with a photo of a missing child, a warning of a biohazard or even localized flooding.

COL is actively seeking partners for this initiative to be able to test locally the effectiveness of such a scheme and the viability of implementation on a national scale in the near future.
